about us

The cidery building itself started with a single repurposed shipping container. Since then we’ve built an addition and created a courtyard for our future tasting room.

With early support from the Lockhart community, Lost Horizon’s reach is quickly expanding to Austin and San Antonio, with availablity in Houston and Dallas in 2023.

Lost Horizon Cider Mill is a small batch cidery nestled in the woods outside of Lockhart, Texas. We were established in 2019 by Al and Shawn Jones, a father and son who’ve long shared a love of good carpentry, abandoned buildings, and a well earned drink at the end of a long day.

Shawn Jones has long been a fixture in the Austin music scene, working primarily as a composer for film, games, and theater. Years of touring with his band, the Lovely Sparrows, led to friendships with seasoned brewmasters, whose creative recipes and attention to detail sparked for him an interest in the craft. At Lost Horizon, Shawn acts as creative director and head cider maker, creating inventive and balanced flavor profiles. He claims the recipe for the company’s flagship cider, Old Haunt, came to him in a dream.

Al Jones is a retired Army Colonel with many years of small business experience. He handles accounts, numbers and inventory and also acts as groundskeeper and landscaper for the property. His military work ethic means he’s often up and working hours before most people (including Shawn) are awake.

Both a dreamer and a doer, Anna Lydon joined Lost Horizon as Director of Sales with the goal of gracing Texas tastebuds with our unique creations. As co-owner, when she’s not dropping cider at your local restaurant or bar you’ll find her slinging cider at events, helping run our social media or plotting our next big move.

Jamaica Cole is our graphic designer. She is responsible for Lost Horizon’s branding and she designs our award winning labels with hand drawn details.
